About Genetic Life
Genetic Life is a not-for-profit research project that uses Internet-connected computers to do research into Genetic Algorithms. You can participate by downloading and running a free program on your computer.
Currently it's in Alpha testing so be prepared for some snags along the way

Genetic Life is based in the UK and is currently investigating the evolution of systems based upon simple sets of instructions.

The latest application for Windows seems to be stable so far. There are stil some issues with the GNU/Linux version which I am trying to resolve.

Hi,

This program is designed to simulate the evolution of simple life forms.
The life forms exist within a fixed sized environment (the soup) and are build up of a limited number of instructions that they are able to perform. Their aim is to reproduce themselves and hopefully evolve).

The simulator has build in mutations that occur as varying times - so when an instruction is run by a life form there is a chance that it will not execute correctly, when the life form is copying itself mutations can occur, and there are times when the environment they live in can mutate.

Further to this, the enviroment has a changing temperature and life forms can only survive within a fixed range else they die. Finally there are mass extinction events that occur occassionally which kill off all but the strongest life forms.

大意是


生命形式存在的一个固定的大中型环境（池） ，并建立一个有限数量的指示，使他们能够执行。 其目的是重现自己和期待性演变 。

我去主页仔细看了看~~~发现这类似以前我看过的一个东西~~~叫Tierra~~~算是一种“数字生命”~~~具体可以看这里：

在一本叫《虚实世界》的书里边有更详尽的介绍~~~
这个严格地说也不算是遗传算法~~~很难分类~~~

感觉还是和生命科学靠得近些，顺便汗一下10楼的机器翻译结果

那啥这也不是研究蛋白质的~~~况且它作为“遗传”和“变异”用的东西是一种简化了的汇编语言~~~所以我觉得算在计算机技术头上可能比较好~~~

With the application stability issue now seemingly resolved I am preparing to go into Beta Test. In addition to this, I have also been provided with a new Mac version which is up and running. Thanks to all who have weathered the storm of the Alpha phase.

The GNU/Linux and Windows applications are now ready for Beta testing (v1.50). Mac versions will follow as soon as I can get them compiled for me. I've stopped WU generation, will let the existing work run down and then release the new apps and WUs within the next two days.
