As far as I know Cucumber is not expensive but it depends in relation to what ? I think your friends in Oxford or Cambridge maybe having a joke with you.

Do you think learning Chinese by Internet is easy? Chinese is one of the difficult language to learn. If you want to learn Chinese well, I think you should practice hand writing listening speaking and more. We do so learning English~ I think speaking and listening are very important.  By the way, the Chinese gov can close off the internet easily~

I know the Chinese Government can do things but I`m trying not to mention anything of political value. It`s hard to play by the rules without knowing the rules.

The funny thing is that when we write of politics in other forums, I am alway`s known for having a leftist or communist view.

I shall try to find some sites where I can learn a bit of Chinese but we rarely hear it spoke except in a badly dubbed film or when we go to get a Chinese meal. I would say Chinese is probably the most difficult language to learn in the world.

I think my first effort maybe to write a little chinese in here, if I can work out how because I have western keyboard.

I now know a little how it feels when all the other foreigners come into FAD although I`m getting away with still writing in English. We are a lazy breed when it comes to learning a language, I`m sorry.

i suppose my friend may do the comparison between Britain and China.
i remembered he said a bar of cucumber cost about 1 pound in Bratain.

The cost of a cucumber in Britain can be 50p to a pound so I suppose he is right. That is not expensive to us. I saw on another site a story of Chinese couple getting a mortgage (house loan) for a small flat in Beijing. The flat was fifty eight thousand pounds I did not think property would be so expensive in China or people able to afford that. The repayments of the loan were forty percent of their combined income.

A takeaway Chinese meal here for my family of two adults three children costs about thirty pounds. A McDonalds childrens meal three pounds. I think the gap between East and West is closing.

It`s the weekend but I still have to work, I have two computer installations to go out and do before I can rest but it`s sunny and bright and the drive out will be good.

I have never been to China but often used to visit Chinatown in London which is in the West end. Here in Southend we have no China town but lots of Chinese takeaway`s and restaurants.

uh...
since Chinese food need special spice and raw food, so you have to import them from China, so it will be expensive~~~

you guys in Britain have the luck to try out Chinese food.....
but we don't have any fish and chips restaurant here.....

I don`t think it will be long till you get a lot more western food and other stuff, not all good. Fish and chips is good but it`s deep fried in oil  so not good for you if you eat it all the time. Most of the Chinese takeaway`s sell Fish and chips too for people that don`t like Chinese food. I don`t think the Chinese food we get is authentic except for some specialised Cantonese restaurants.

I will scan an image of our local Chinese takeaway`s menu and put it up for you to see later, then you can tell me. Personally I only ever have Chicken Chow Mein and Special Fried rice with prawn crackers, I do not like spicy.

So you`ve come on a business idea for one of you anyway. Open a fish and chip shop..

Chinese food is more healthy.:-)
but since there are a variety of food in the world, i always want to try more.
just like D computing, i try a lot.
but i never try any DC project about drug. i hate having that when i'm sick......;-)
