This system isdedicated to identify, analyze, structurally predict and design RNAmolecules on the basis of established bioinformatics software in ahigh-performance, high-throughput fashion.
In contrast to classical bioinformatic approaches, RNA Worlddoes not rely on individual desktop computers, web servers orsupercomputers. Instead, it represents a continuously evolving clusterof world-wide distributed machines of any type. As such, RNA World isvery heterogenous and, depending on the sub-project, currentlyaddresses Internet-connected computers running Linux, Windows and OSXoperating systems - your computer could be an important part of it. Thefact that hardware and electricity costs are shared among the volunteercontributors raises the possibility of performing interesting analyseswhich under economical aspects would often not be affordable. Inreturn, RNA World is not for profit, exclusively uses open source codeand will make its results available to the public.
In its present form, RNA World runs a fully automated high-throughput analysis software version of Infernal1, a program suite originally developed in Sean Eddys laboratoryfor the systematic identification of non-coding RNAs. The goal of thisRNA World sub-project is to systematically identify all known RNAfamily members in all organisms known to date and make the resultsavailable to the public in a timely fashion. With your help, we alsoaim at supplying established bioinformatic databases such as Rfam2 with our results to help reduce their future maintenance costs.
In contrast to other distributed and grid computing projects,the RNA World developers are currently designing generalized userinterfaces that, in parallel to the projects our own research team isfollowing up, allow non-associated individual scientists to submittheir own projects in a manner similar to using a web server interface- of course, free of cost.

在一定程度上可以帮助分析DNA 貌似现在发现RNA的作用更大了，在高中生物所学的遗传转录的中心法则遭受了极大挑战，看来RNA的研究开始兴起啦，这对生命科学应该有很大影响吧。
[BOINC] [生命科学类] RNA World (beta)
2010 年 1 月 15 日今天开始了一种新型的 CMSEARCH 任务。
项目需要进一步的测试，通过搜索存在于一个小分子中的 RNA ，对它的全部 985 个完整细菌基因进行测序（存储于欧洲分子生物研究室的数据库中）。
项目会结合这个和 HR 测试，通过科学的计划让系统完美运行，因此在这个时候希望有更多的 WU。

昨晚服务器几乎爆肝，磁盘也接近满塞。。
更强大的服务器和更大的存储空间需要更多的钱包。。因此需要捐赠或赞助来降低运行成本。。

怪不得不开放注册。。服务器孱弱。。囧 2010 年 1 月 18 日
又一批新任务准备发放，大约 8500 个WU，随后会增加更多满足需求。。
通过改变 HR 的设置现在似乎运行得很好，接近可以公开项目的程度。。
不过受制于服务器的能力，无法全面运作。。
因为服务器另外要运行 yoyo@home 的项目，因此项目希望能获得另外一个服务器来独立运转。。 2010 年 1 月 19 日
RNA World 在 BOINC 翻译系统（BTS）中已经可用，现在项目可以翻译成任何语言。而目前只有4中语言。
