You probably know that World Community Grid is sponsored by the IBM Corporation, but did you know that IBM is highlighting the project as one of its most important contributions to society? 你可能知道WCG项目是由IBM公司资助的，但是你知道IBM正将该项目高亮成其对社会所作的最重要的贡献之一吗？
As part of the IBM's centennial celebration, 100 innovations that helped shape IBM's first 100 years have been selected as Icons of Progress, or key milestones. These are technologies, projects or inventions that IBM believes made a lasting impact on the world. 作为IBM公司百年庆祝计划的一部分，IBM公司选出了100项帮助其树立第一个百年的进展图标，或重要的里程碑。IBM公司相信这些科技、项目或者发明对世界有着持久的影响。
World Community Grid was chosen because it demonstrates how computers could be turned into powerful research tools helping address some of the world's most difficult health and societal problems. WCG由于其展示了计算机如何能够变成强大的研究工具以助于对付一些世界最困难的健康和社会问题而被选中。
IBM is featuring an Icon of Progress every day and World Community Grid will be featured on March 30, 2011. IBM每天都会突出一个进展图标，WCG的标志将于2011年3月30日被突出显示。
