DepSpid 作为一个 PerlBOINC 项目（PerlBOINC 即尝试使用 Perl 编程语言实现 BOINC 服务器系统），仍在开发中。

DepSpid 应用程序目前仅能在 windows 系统中运行。未来也许会有 linux 版本的应用程序，但现在还不能确定。

DepSpid 是一个分布式的网络爬虫（如搜索引擎使用的那样），主要目标有两个：
一、建立一个包含个人网站及网站群体间依赖关系的数据库
二、收集关于网络结构的统计数据。

由网络爬虫收集到的所有信息将公开可用。
