We are living in the Energy Century. The fossil fuel based economy of the present must give way to the renewable energy based economy of the future. Getting there is the grandest challenge humanity faces. Chemistry will help meet this challenge by discovering new materials that harvest solar radiation, store energy for deferred use, and reconvert stored energy when needed.
我们生活在一个能源世纪。未来,可再生能源为基础的经济必定代替目前以化石燃料(指煤、石油等)为基础的经济。这对于我们每个人,都是一个巨大的挑战。化学将有助于我们迎接这一挑战,发现新的材料,收获太阳能贮存延期使用。
The Clean Energy project uses computational chemistry and the willingness of the people to look for the best molecules to fulfill these roles: organic photovoltaics for producing unexpensive solar cells, polymers for membranes to be used in fuel cells, how to assemble them? By helping us search combinatorially among thousands of potential systems, you can contribute to this effort.
