Evolution@home (http://www.evolutionary-research.org )是模拟物种进化与灭亡的一个壮丽的富有挑战性的计算研究计划。

它是第一个使用模拟器“在那些濒临灭绝的物种在还没有灭绝前,帮助揭露出其潜在的遗传学原因。 您的参与将帮助并改进理解一些与染色体组的变异、腐坏有关的科学性认识,并将让我们尽快的找到对抗物种灭绝的方法”的分布式计算项目。

自2002年10月24日起,项目已经利用到了16.3多年的CPU内核处理时间。

以下是英文的注册说明:
where you substitute (as good as you know)

aaa by the name of the processor (e.g. PentiumII or K6 ...)
bbb by the clock speed of the processor in MHz (e.g. 500 MHz)
ccc by the maximal amount of main memory you are willing to commit for the program at runtime (e.g. 10 MB or 700MB ...)
ddd by the maximal cpu-time in days (from 0.1 to 300 days or whatever) you are comfortable with for a single  simulation (not the total amount for all simulations in a run-file)
eee by either ãdial-inä or ãcontinousä, depending on the type of Internet connection you have
ooo by the name of the actual operating system (and version) you use.
if you have more than one CPU that can run an application independent from other CPUs, substitute the 1 x at the beginning of the line by the appropriate number of CPUs you want to participate in evolutionary research.

No run-file ("run" or "run.txt" in simulators folder) was found.

QuickTip:
Select a run-file that fits your computers RAM and time from
http://www.evolutionary-research.net, save it as a text-file
(not html) under the name "run" and move it to the simulators
folder (currently "F:\download\S005r6SimulatorWin32").
Then start the simulator again to compute results for that run-file.
Please do not forget to return results by occasionally removing the file
"S005_RESULTS.txt" from the simulators folder and emailing it as an
attachment to simulator005@evolution-at-home.net.

You may consult
  - "README manual.txt" for more information,
  - the log-file for a copy of all important output to this console and
  - "eProgress.txt" to monitor the state of the current simulation.
Put an link(alias) to the autostart(startup) folder of your operating
system to continue simulations automatically after rebooting.

关于下载运行配置文件的说明:

推荐使用最新版本:

在上面提到的第二个页面,可以看到一个列表,挑一个适合您的进去,例如“38 runs 9.92 days”,将进入页面http://www.evolutionary-research ... 05RunFileP1ss6.html ,然后在安装目录下建立一个文本文件“run.txt”,然后拷贝页面上的“&simulate”命令行的内容到“run.txt”中,注意:命令行中在“&”和“#”之间的部分您可以修改成适合您的内容,然后您就可以运行命令行版本了。
等算完以后,文件“run.txt”回自动更名为“completed-run-file.txt”,然后您需要给官方负责人发信以便将结果文件返回,请在将文件名改为“S005_RESULTS.txt”,发信至“simulator005@evolution-at-home.net”。然后您需要重新下载制作新的运行配置文件,并将上次留下的结果文件删除,如此往复。

以下是官方网站上的下载设置配置文件的说明:
To use this webpage as a run-file, save it as a normal text file under the name "run.txt" in your simulators folder. Alternatively Copy&Paste as many simulate-commands as you want in a text-file, name it "run" and put it in the simulators folder on your harddisk. Then double-click the program to start the simulation. You can change everything in the run-file except what is between & #, as this is the core of any command.
All computing times assume a performance of 0.2 MINDS (= Million INDividuals per Second on a typical CPU Pentium III/500 MHz). You may use the performance estimated for your system (see your preferences file) and the complexity of the runs given here (in GI=GigaIndividuals) to pick appropriate simulate-commands.

After completing computation this run-file is renamed to "completed-run-file.txt". Then submit the results-file with the name "S005_RESULTS.txt"

“拟物种进化与灭亡的一个壮丽的富有挑战性的计算研究计划”——很好的主题,很想参加这个项目的,可为什么官方不搞个自动连接的客户端呢?非要用 Email 来下载任务,算完了还要用 Email 回传计算结果,真是麻烦啊!

非BOINC平台,是其他分布式计算平台,请谨慎选择,有兴趣的朋友可以参加一下。
